Which computer programming languages to learn in 2019?

The most popular popular computer language videos on Youtube are probably the "Which programming language to learn in 2019...".  This is because there are so many new languages and new programmers are unsure what language to start learning.

The common response by many advanced programmers are "What do you want to build or do?". This question is problematic since most newbies don't know how specific programs relate to front end or back end development. Also, most newbies don't know whether they will prefer front-end or back-end development. And most important, most newbies don't know if they will prefer front-end or back-end devleopment once they start working in an organization.  For example, the organization may prefer to spend more resources on front-end development.

Lately, Youtube influencers have started recommending that newbies start with either JavaScript or Python since these are easy languages to learn.  JavaScript for front-end development and Python for back-end development.

In my opinion, whether you are a data scientist or a computer scientist, a newbie should start out learning both JavaScript and Python.  Once, the newbie has advanced, s/he can then start learning other languages.  I would recommend C because most high-end computer languages are built from C.

Here is a blog that talks about the 5 programming languages a programmer should know.  The author mentions Java, JavaScript, Python and C.  The author includes Scala as the 5th language. This is my first attempt at a maze game in Python. The white squares are the walls and the blue circle is the first player. I will continue on with the game and post the final version.  After learning how to make basic games in Python using Turtle, I plan to move on to making simple games using Pygame.
